About This Tool
A free, private, no-nonsense retirement planning calculator.
What is this tool?
This is a free, browser-based retirement planning calculator. You enter your current savings, monthly contributions, expected investment returns, and retirement goals — and it projects whether you're on track. All calculations happen instantly in your browser. No servers, no accounts, no data collection.
Is my data private?
Yes, completely. Every calculation runs locally in your browser. Nothing is ever sent to a server, stored in a database, or shared with anyone. We have no way of knowing you're even using this tool. Close the tab and your data is gone.
Do I need to register or log in?
No. There is no account system, no registration, no login, and no email address required. Just open the tool and start planning.
Is it free?
Yes, completely free. There are no ads, no subscription fees, no premium features hidden behind a paywall, and no affiliate links. This is a public service tool. If you find it valuable, consider donating to Pure Hope School NPC (see the Donate page).
Are you trying to sell me something?
No. We are not affiliated with any financial institution, investment platform, or product provider. We are not trying to sell you investments, insurance, or any financial product. Full stop.
How accurate are the projections?
The tool uses standard actuarial and financial mathematics (present value of growing annuities, Gordon Growth Model, compound interest). However, all projections are estimates. Real investment returns vary year to year. Inflation changes. Tax laws change. Life doesn't follow a spreadsheet. Use this tool as a guide to understand the scale of your planning — not as a guarantee of outcomes. Please consult a qualified financial advisor before making significant financial decisions.
What do the two targets mean?
Target 1 (Finite) is the lump sum you need for your money to last a fixed number of years (e.g. 25 years). Target 2 (Perpetuity) is the larger amount where your investment growth each month exceeds your withdrawal — meaning the capital is never spent and could last forever. Target 2 is the more conservative (and aspirational) goal.
What languages is the tool available in?
The tool is available in English, German (Deutsch), French (Français), Spanish (Español), and Italian (Italiano). Use the flag buttons in the top-right corner to switch languages.
